In closing the remnants of an historic District Fund which no longer yields fresh money, the T&G's Lincoln Composite District Committee unanimously decided that the few pounds that were left should be donated to the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance. It was agreed that this is one interest that Lincs and Notts shares (in the same way that the District Committee's jurisdiction straddles both Lincolnshire and parts of Nottinghamshire).
It is also unquestionably the case that the 'Ambucopter', as it is known, is among the most important and worthy causes in the area. It receives no central funding and is entirely reliant on charitable donations to continue its work.
The late Les Jackson - one of the most dedicated representatives of Lincolnshire's agricultural workers and who died last year, was an unswerving supporter of the Ambucopter. This donation is a tribute to Big Les and his work for both the 'copter and the Union.
